Over time, many elders may experience difficulty with staircases.
Some potential solutions are:
- If you have a full bathroom on the main level of your home, is it possible to temporarily section off one of the room on the main level (such as a living room)?
- Consider installing a chairlift that is mounted on a staircase. Chairlifts mounted on staircases with straight sections tend to be less expensive than ones mounted on curved staircases.
- If you have “stacked” closets (or other non-essential space on the main floor and directly above or below it on the floor above or below), consider adding an elevator.
